BBC Radio Bristol Interview

Wow – it’s been an exciting year so far at Design Vaults!

Not only did our signature range – The Moments Collection, launch at The Holburne Museum in February, but that was followed by a feature in The Bath Magazine in March and now we’re on the radio!!

Ali Vowles, BBC Radio Bristol presenter interviewed Marie and Alice for a special feature on career changes in the handmade industry which support local, young talent in the South West. The interview was slightly terrifying (okay, very terrifying!), but ever the professional Ali put both Marie and Alice at ease and quickly had Marie busy showing her how the back of the Moments Collection satin finish is created whilst answering questions – no easy task…

Ali was particularly interested in why Marie retrained, (a desire to do something for herself with 2 young children, a lack of local decently paid and mentally challenging jobs after being a marketing planner for 11+ years was the answer!) and why she chose a career as a silversmith. Inspired by her travels Marie always sought out local, handmade jewellery that reflected the place she visited and a desire to celebrate the city she loves, were the driving factors behind the creation of the Moments Collection – a range of sterling silver and gold pendants which feature hand illustrated images of iconic locations in Bath.

Marie also wanted to support local, young artistic talent and found Alice – at the time a pupil at Haysfield School, who created the elegant drawings that are showcased in the handmade and uniquely shaped pendants.

The interview was aired on Saturday March 18th and if you would like to hear a copy of the interview just email marie@designvaults.co.uk
